SAP ECC to S/4HANA Migration in Saudi Arabia and the GCC
Plan the move from SAP ECC to S/4HANA with a team that does this work: assess your system, choose the right approach, move your data and custom code, and support you after go-live.
- Fresh start, system conversion or selective move
- Custom code, data and interfaces checked first
- Cloud or private hosting, your choice

What is the migration
Moving your SAP from ECC to S/4HANA
An ECC to S/4HANA migration moves your finance, supply chain and production processes from SAP’s older ERP to its current one. It means a new database, a simpler data model and new screens, plus a plan for your custom code and data.
SAP ECC has run many companies in Saudi Arabia for years. SAP S/4HANA is its successor, built on the HANA database. Several consultancies report that SAP’s mainstream maintenance for ECC 6.0 ends on 31 December 2027, with optional extended maintenance after that at extra cost. Dates depend on your release, so we confirm them against SAP’s own roadmap.
The good news is that this is a project you can plan, not an emergency. We start with an assessment, show you the options and cost drivers in writing, and then deliver the approach you choose.

What changes
ECC today and S/4HANA tomorrow
What changes for your finance team, your users and your IT.
SAP ECC today
- Separate ledgers and reconciliation between finance and controlling
- Customers and vendors kept in separate master records
- Reports that wait for overnight jobs
- Older screens and a growing list of custom code
SAP S/4HANA with GoAgile
- One ledger for finance, with the detail behind every number
- One business partner record for customers and vendors
- Reports on live data
- Modern Fiori screens, and custom code cleaned up on the way
The approaches
Three ways to move from ECC to S/4HANA
There is no single right answer. We recommend the approach after the assessment, and explain why.
Fresh start
Build S/4HANA from scratch and bring over only the data you need, redesigning processes on the way.
- Clean design with little old code
- The best chance to simplify processes
- Needs more change management
Best for: Companies with heavily customised or messy ECC systems that want a reset.
System conversion
Convert your existing ECC system in place, keeping your processes, configuration and history.
- Keeps your data and history
- Custom code is adapted, not rebuilt
- Usually the quicker path
Best for: Companies whose processes work well and who want continuity.
Selective move
Move selected companies, data or processes to S/4HANA in steps, while keeping the rest.
- Move entity by entity or process by process
- Spreads risk and effort
- Needs careful design
Best for: Groups with many entities that want a phased path.
Terms and options vary by SAP release and edition. We confirm what applies to your system during the assessment.
Before you decide
What we check before choosing your approach
Five checks that decide the effort, cost and risk of your move.
Book an ECC assessment →Custom code
We scan your custom programs and enhancements to see what can be dropped, adapted or replaced by standard SAP.
Data quality and volume
We look at the size, age and quality of your data, and what can be archived or cleaned before the move.
Interfaces and integrations
Banks, government portals, e-commerce and other systems that talk to SAP are listed and planned.
Add-ons and industry solutions
We check that every add-on and industry solution you use has a path to S/4HANA.
People and processes
We identify the teams affected, the training needed and the processes worth simplifying.
How we deliver
From assessment to go-live in five phases
Each phase ends with a sign-off, so you always know where the project stands.
- 1
Assess
A readiness check of code, data, interfaces and add-ons, with a written report.
- 2
Plan
We agree the approach, scope, hosting, timeline and team, with risks and cost drivers.
- 3
Prepare
We clean data, adapt custom code and set up the new system landscape.
- 4
Convert and test
We run conversion rehearsals, test with your key users and fix issues.
- 5
Go live and support
We manage the cut-over, train users and stay close through the first closes.
Effort and cost
What drives the time and cost of your migration
We confirm a timeline and estimate after the assessment, not before. These are the factors that move them.
Amount of custom code
More custom code means more checking and adapting.
Data volume and quality
Cleaner, smaller data moves faster and costs less.
Number of interfaces
Each connected system has to be tested again.
Entities and countries
More legal entities usually mean more rollout waves.
Testing depth
Finance-critical processes need thorough testing.
Training and change
Bigger user groups need more training and support.

Local rules and hosting choices shape the plan. We handle them as part of the project.
Arabic and English
Forms, invoices and reports in both languages, carried over and tested.
VAT and Zakat
Tax set-ups and reports moved across and checked with your finance team.
E-invoicing handled by us
We are a ZATCA e-invoicing solution provider, so wherever e-invoicing applies to your move, we handle it as part of the work.
Hosting and data location
Cloud, hosted or your own data centre. Reports say SAP has opened a public cloud data centre in the Kingdom, and we confirm what applies to your edition.
GCC groups
Move entities in waves across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.

What is the difference between SAP ECC and S/4HANA?
ECC is SAP’s older ERP and S/4HANA is its current one. S/4HANA runs on the HANA database and uses a simpler data model, with one ledger for finance, one business partner record for customers and vendors, and modern Fiori screens.
When does SAP ECC maintenance end?
Several consultancies report that mainstream maintenance for ECC 6.0 ends on 31 December 2027, with optional extended maintenance to about 2030 at extra cost. Dates depend on your release and enhancement package, so we confirm them against SAP’s own roadmap during the assessment.
Which migration approach is best for us?
It depends on how much custom code you have, how clean your data is and how much you want to change. A fresh start suits messy or heavily customised systems, a system conversion suits stable processes, and a selective move suits groups with many entities. We recommend one after the assessment.
How long does an ECC to S/4HANA migration take?
It depends on the approach, the amount of custom code, the data volume, the number of interfaces and the number of entities. We give a phased timeline in writing after a short assessment instead of quoting one up front.
How much does the migration cost?
Cost follows the same factors as time: custom code, data, interfaces, entities, testing and training. We provide a written estimate after the assessment so you can compare approaches.
Will our custom code still work?
Some will work with small changes, some needs rebuilding and some is no longer needed because standard S/4HANA covers it. We scan your custom code first and tell you which is which.
Can we move to the cloud edition of S/4HANA?
Often yes, if your processes fit standard SAP. If you need more freedom to adapt, a private edition may fit better. We explain the trade-offs and help you decide.
Do you migrate SAP for companies in Riyadh and across the GCC?
Yes. Our head office is in Riyadh. We plan and deliver SAP migrations for organisations across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, with on-site workshops and go-live support.
